Whether you work or are retired, if you live in Spain more than 183 days a year then you are required by law to submit a (Resident) annual tax return even if you do not own a property here.
If you own a holiday home in Spain then you are required by Spanish law to complete an annual (Non-Resident) tax return irrespective of whether you use the property or someone else uses it.
